Аннотация

India, China, and the Far East have had their currency and exchange troubles like the rest of the world. When the previous edition of this book appeared the peak of inflation had almost been reached. The East had slavishly followed the West along that ruinous course ; she has since had to emulate the West in its efforts to pass over the pitfalls on the road to deflation. India and one or two other Eastern nations have found defects in a “ managed ” currency. Japan has had a terrible earthquake to impede her progress. China moves slowly towards monetary reform ; yet despite the difficulties with which the country is beset through civil strife and faction, she seems at last to be making her way towards a national dollar currency. “ Silver ” money that is silver is still as great a power as ever in that land. In order to keep the book up to date it has been necessary to re-write a considerable portion. A large amount of new material has also been added, and in this connection the author has to acknowledge the valuable assistance he has received from many readers in many lands.
