The Bank of Finland Security Printing House will celebrate its centenary on 22nd May, 1985. On this date one hundred years will have elapsed since the Diet authorized the Bank Supervisors to take steps to ensure the establishment of a note-printing works operating under the aegis of the Bank of Finland. The present volume commemorates this anniversary. The English version is a condensation of a longer book appearing in Finnish and Swedish. Its centrepiece is a history of the Security Printing House written by Kai Hoffman. Other articles treat the history of Finnish bank notes, and the current state and future prospects of both security printing and the means of payment. Moreover, information on a new bank note series scheduled to be issued in Finland in the second half of the 1980s is being made public for the first time.
